Antioche Winery

Istanbul wasn’t the only capital of empires. Turkey’s Antakya is one of the earliest Christian landscapes. And just as ancient is their wine making traditions.
@antioche.vineyard not only continues that tradition, but is very seriously revitalizing the wine culture that was once so ubiquitous in the region (85% of their production is drunk within Hatay. 85%. Yep). Their point of pride, however, is the barburi – a grape from which locals and the founder’s grandparents used to make wine, but was currently used for the likes of juice and molasses.

An endless expression of gratitude and thanks goes to the thoughtful and charming team who welcomed us with opens arms (and one of the best lunches to date).
